A recent finding from adult content site Pornhub suggests there is a big audience getting off on transgender porn. And it’s not the first time.
The site says they see a “growing interest in trans content” from their users, which has been on the rise since 2018. Italy, Uruguay and the UK are seen as the leading three countries, while Emma Rose, an American adult content creator, was the most watched and searched.
“Overall, men were 8% more likely to watch trans porn compared with female visitors,” the site said.
Age gaps showed a drastic decrease for users aged 18 to 34. The site added that “the older people get, the more likely they are to watch trans porn”. Pornhub found that it rises from 4% in the 35 to 44 age group to 20% for the 55 to 64 group and to 21% for the 65+ aged viewers.
The findings lie in contrast to the transphobia often expressed by older generations who witnessed fewer gender expressions in the past.
A similar phenomenon hit the US, where Republicans, some known for racist ideologies and homophobia, caused the gay dating app Grindr to crash during their rallies in a given area.
This might form part of shame faced by cishet men and women who have feelings for the opposite gender, regardless of the gender they were assigned at birth. Especially for older generations who feel shamed by peers and family for something so different from those who seek approval for normative relationships.
It is no surprise that sites such as Pornhub create a private space where people do not have to face any public stigmas, according to the Journal of Family Psychology.
Their findings suggest transgender women and their cishet partners have specific stress factors that can ruin the quality of their relationships.
