A TORMENTED Kate McCann collapsed in tears at a weekend church service to mark six months since her daughter Madeleine disappeared.
With green and yellow ribbons in her hair and a cuddle cat hanging limply from her hand, Kate began crying uncontrollably in the arms of a friend.
Kate, standing in the aisle of the church near her home in northern England, then buried her head in her female friend's shoulder, whispering through her tears: "I just want her back . I just want her back."
Earlier in the service, her husband, Gerry, had tenderly stroked the nape of her neck.
An onlooker said: "Kate is supposed to be the ice maiden, whom some have accused of faking tears in a TV interview.
"But there was nothing fake about these tears. Many found it unbearable to watch." - The Sun, London
