Homes in Somerset West were evacuated overnight and on Wednesday morning as fires continued to rage‚ fuelled by a strong south-easter wind. Many residents from the area worked themselves to a “standstill” as fires wreaked havoc.

Neighbourhood watch groups mobilise to deliver supplies to fire-fighters and volunteers. They also assisted with evacuation operations.
Weather SA listed a number of Western Cape regions as fire risks for Wednesday as more wind and dry conditions are forecasted.
