It's the sort of do that should come complete with a set of earplugs; a raucous awards ceremony where hundreds of young 'uns scream approval for their favourite brands and celebs.
The Sunday Times Gen Next awards were held on Thursday evening at the Sandton Convention Centre.
And, along with those tonsil-blaring kids, it drew a flock of marketers and a pinch of personalities anxious to find out who got the nod in a host of categories ranging from coolest cellphone to coolest soapie.
Striding through the throng, I see someone who is undoubtedly the most famous woman in the country.
That's Bonang Matheba, draped in a flowing gold dress with matching jacket, who arrived with a phalanx of TV cameras filming her every move for her eponymous pay-channel TV show.
Fresh from clinching a global social media award in Prague, and with her docu-film Public Figure screening this weekend, Queen B was a shoo-in for one of the new award categories, coolest online influencer.
We chat all things social media, with Bonang pointing out that traditional media like the TV shows she's graced and the papers that cover her every move have cemented her online reputation.
With her last ex, AKA, now back with his baby's mamma, DJ Zinhle, I get spicy and ask what she thinks of couples breaking up and getting back together.
"I don't have a problem with it. Everybody deserves a second chance; everybody deserves to do whatever the hell they want, actually," she says.

On to singer Amanda Black, who was excited to attend the awards for the first time, despite the ear-splitting noise.
"I will scream along with them," says the singer, wearing a shop-bought number from YDE with a beaded necklace from Ntozinhle Accessories, who is due to perform next month at the Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Amanda was nominated in the coolest local female celeb category, won last year by Babes Wodumo. Babes was again nominated, but, as with her court date on Tuesday for her assault case against lover Mandla Maphumulo - known as Mampintsha - she failed to pitch.
A quick hello to Nompilo Maphumulo who stars in SABC1 drama series Uzalo, which has won the coolest TV soap category every year since it started airing in 2015, before I turn to see a latecomer, wearing just a towel, slippers and a shower cap.
It's Khanyi Mbau's attention-seeking younger brother, Lasizwe Dambuza, who says "this is what happens when you're late" and is distraught to learn he has missed being snapped on the pre-awards red carpet.
Into the hall, and performers from Drum Café get the crowd enthused before host Pearl Modiadie gets the show on the road.

Awards are handed to FNB for coolest bank, Samsung for coolest cellphone and computer brand, while for the fifth year in a row sports brand Nike takes the crown for uber-cool overall winner, along with coolest clothing brand, coolest footwear brand and coolest brand slogan.
I have to wonder, though, about the kids who took part in the survey when they name Avon their coolest makeup brand and SAA the coolest domestic airline.
I am also left scratching my head when SuperSport United player Thuso Phala beats AB de Villiers, Caster Semenya and Wayde van Niekerk as coolest local sportsperson - although that's probably more for his goal-scoring dance moves than his sporting prowess.
Thankfully, hugely popular singer Lady Zamar wins coolest female celeb, Trevor Noah lands the nod in the male category, and Bonang now has another gong for her mantelpiece.
Uzalo, however, ends its winning streak with The Queen taking the crown for coolest soapie. As the show's star Rami Chuene enthused: "We dethroned them!"
