ACCESSORY AWARD  

Winner: PICHULIK — ethical jewellery and accessories atelier from Cape Town. Rooted in Africa and inspired by ancient traditions and cultures from around the world. Founder and creative director Katherine-Mary Pichulik says every piece is made by a single artist who has mastered a selection of crafting and embellishing skills. Designed out of rope and found materials.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN AND MATERIALS AWARD

Presented by Polo South Africa  

Winner: Droomer — designer whose work places ecologically sound and socially just choices at its core.

NICHOLAS COUTTS AWARD

Winner: Laaniraani. Shamyra Moodley, who wins R10,000 from Nicholas’s family, merges art with fashion in a sustainable world. She hand-makes pieces with reclaimed T-shirt yarn in her home studio. Using circular design principles, she transforms reclaimed vintage fabrics and offcuts into apparel, packaging, jewellery and homeware products working with a small, skilled team of artisans. Each Laaniraani product is unique.

STUDENT AWARD FROM LEVI’S SA

Winner: Aidan Peters — student with a focus in fashion design, film, content creation and visual art.

TEXTILES OR MILLS AWARD

Winner: ZURI and IMANI — textile and surface design studio specialising in creating original and exclusive pattern designs used on textile, leather, paper, wood and ceramic surfaces for the fashion, interior and paper goods industries. 

TRANS-SEASONAL AWARD

Winner: The BAM Collective — designing since the age of nine, creative director Jacques Bam operates from a small studio in Centurion where all products are made to order with the help of tailor Omar Mike Salanje Kenneth. They use graphic prints, bold colours, striking silhouettes and experimental details to explore the commercial and conceptual boundaries of clothing. 

RETAIL AWARD

Winner: Merchants on Long — concept store that celebrates and promotes the best of what the African continent has to offer.

Opened in 2010, the store has evolved into an international platform for emerging and established brands from the continent, including award-winning Maxhosa Africa, Sindiso Khumalo, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Rich Mnisi and MmusoMaxwell.

CMT OR MANUFACTURER AWARD

Winner: Sparrow Society — built on the principle of ubuntu, that we are inextricably linked and when we work together can achieve greatness. An ethical branding, corporate gifting and manufacturing company.

INFLUENCER AWARD

Winner: Khensani Mohlatlole — influencer and writer who says: "Clothing is universal, so it’s the best place to introduce people to caring for the planet and people".
