The Perfect Picture Show created by Canon South Africa is nearing the final episode. The 10-part reality TV series which hit screens in July on e.tv ignited the audience's passion for photography.
The show featured some of Mzanzi's top celebs as they went head-to-head in a series of unconventional photographic challenges, competing for the grand prize of R150,000 cash and R100,000 worth of photographic equipment.
Three contestants left are: media creatorLasizwe; actor, singer and social media influencer Nomvelo Makhanya; and actor and presenter Jonathan Boynton-Lee.
The show is hosted by TV presenter, model and fashion designer Maps Maponyane.

Boynton-Lee answered our questions:
What's your favourite subject to photograph?
That’s a tough one because I have a number of favourites. Travel photography wins overall though, capturing people and places.
Who inspires you as a photographer?
My friend, actor, model and author Stevel Marc.
What’s the best gift you’ve been given?
My girlfriend just got me a beautiful new Padel racket for my birthday (I’m crazy about Padel tennis) and the Canon R8 we were gifted on the show was a pretty damn amazing.
Besides a camera, what are your essential pieces of photographic equipment?
It’s all about the lenses. I’m saving up for the lenses we used on the show. A 70-200mm f2.8 and the 24-70mm f2.8.
Is there an event or photographic opportunity you’re looking forward to now that the weather has warmed up and spring is here?
I’m looking forward to travelling with my camera and not just shooting stills but also video. I was in Spain recently for a travel gig and I captured some beautiful content. I’ve also been capturing some epic time lapse sunset shots for a movie I’m making.
What was it like being on the show?
Being creative is my favourite thing, it's my happy place. So to be on a show where you get set challenging creative tasks was a dream. We also got to experience some once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.
What was the best part of the show experience?
Apart from spending time with the awesome cast and crew, it was those once-in-a-lifetime moments, like doing flips in aeroplanes and tagging rhinos and elephants. It’s also been so much fun taking on each challenge, never knowing what’s next. I’ve loved the adrenaline of it.

Your next big project?
I’ve just written, executive produced and acted in a movie. We are in post-production and I can’t wait to share it with the world. It’s new and fresh, different to what’s come out of the South African film space before.
* The season finale is today on e.tv at 5pm or catch repeat episodes on Saturdays at 5.30pm on eReality.
