The Zeitz MOCAA Centre for Art Education is offering a week of children's workshops over the winter school holidays. The holiday programme has been designed as an open studio, offering children the opportunity to enjoy various activities in the same space. Zeitz is cognisant of art knowing no time limits and kids can stay as long as they like. The activities are offered at different levels of complexity and will cater for preschoolers, tweens and teens alike (ages 6-16) to ensure inclusive and enjoyable workshop engagements. The Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (Lamta) is inviting you to a musical immersion of the glitz, glamour and intrigue of Tinseltown. This blockbuster dance production, which explores genres synonymous with Hollywood (from the Golden Age of Cinema to film noir to contemporary romcoms), is running for 10 days at Camps Bay's Theatre on the Bay from Wednesday. Featuring spectacular choreography by leading names, Hollywood is a lively, stylish and authentic production which offers a look behind the visage of the perceived glamour of celebrity. The annual Encounters South African International Documentary Festival is celebrating 26 years as one of Africa's premiere documentary film festivals this year. The sounds of Mali meet the sounds of Mzansi as Malian kora virtuoso Ballaké Sissoko and South African classical guitarist Derek Gripper’s aural amalgamation of 21 strings and six strings, A New African String Theory, tours the country. The Gauteng leg of the chordophone prodigies’ non-verbal/solely musical performance will be taking place at the Market Theatre on Saturday.
