A male model is suing Cape Town rapper Ziggy4x for R1m for allegedly stabbing him in a restaurant bathroom.
Lawyers for Liam Vandiar sent a letter of demand to Ziggy4x — known for his Afrikaans version of the drill rap genre — demanding R1m in damages for medical costs and pain and suffering following the incident at the Bokeh Karaoke Bar & Lounge in Sea Point in September.
Vandiar says he was stabbed in the abdomen and had to undergo emergency surgery. He spent six days in hospital.
In the letter of demand, the law firm acting for Vandiar, Lionel Murray Schwormstedt & Louw, accuse Ziggy4x — real name Mogamad Zain Allie — of assaulting and stabbing Vandiar in the early hours of September 20.
The assault was intended to cause Vandiar “grievous harm” and took place in full view of members of the public and Bokeh Karaoke Bar & Lounge patrons, the letter said.
“As a result of the assault, our client ... will require future medical treatment, was unable to work and earn an income, and may be unable to work in the future.”

Brands for which Vandiar has modelled include Tom Ford, Dolce&Gabbana and Gaudì.
“Our client is quantifying his future medical costs and loss of earnings, but estimates his damages to be no less than R1m,” the law firm’s letter said.
A spokesperson for Bokeh Karaoke Bar & Lounge confirmed there had been an altercation. “It happened in the bathroom area... we called the police.”
Police spokesperson Lt-Col Malcolm Pojie said a criminal case had been opened. No arrests have been made.
Ziggy4x, who recently released his debut EP, Gangsta Baby, did not respond to questions. A representative, who refused to identify himself, said: “If you want comment, you need to come to Cape Town and speak to him here. This thing is a Cape Town thing, so you need to speak to him in Cape Town.”
