Mampara of the week: Nathi Mthethwa

A tale told by an idiot

Nathi Mthethwa is either a slow learner or just utterly incompetent.

How does one explain that at a time when the performing arts are in dire straits, this Mampara takes to social media to declare that "South African theatre is alive and well"?

This from a minister who has hardly lifted a hand to help while performers are suffering the effects of a lockdown that has all but closed down the sector.

That the Mampara has now apologised for his insensitive remarks is a good thing. But clearly he is neither suitable for nor interested in this job.

It is high time the president liberated artists and others whose activities fall under Mthethwa's portfolio by redeploying him.

Preferably, he should be sent back to Luthuli House where he can play principal of the ANC's political school.
