Minister's uneducated insult
Basic education minister Angie Motshekga has been missing in public for a while. People asked where she was, speculating about her health. She emerged this week and quickly reminded us why she should have stayed hidden.
This is what MamparAngie said about rape when addressing pupils at a school in Pretoria: "This government has prioritised education because it knows that it's only through education that we can deal with our challenges that are there, because an educated man won't rape."
Forget that she immediately implied that all uneducated people were potential rapists, this was a week when Tshegofatso Pule's killer was sentenced to 20 years and her boyfriend arrested. Motshekga's comments were so vile that even the pupils at that school audibly disagreed.
