Be careful what you ask for, Jackie
This Mampara, who moonlights as a cyberbully, richly deserves the award. The publicity-mad author of several books turns out to be ignorant of the basic rules of publishing, including that it’s illegal to go about wilfully destroying people’s reputations, even on social media.
This week Jackie Phamotse was found guilty on charges including defamation and crimen injuria after she tweeted unsavoury things about media personality Basetsana Kumalo and her businessman husband Romeo.
After her reckless tweets, she now has to stew while awaiting sentencing next month. Hopefully this will give her much-needed space to contemplate the folly of her indiscretions.
As a convention, Mamparas end up in this column involuntarily. But the author of I Tweet What I Like: So ... Sue Me actually begged for it.
Such a worthy Mampara. Hopefully, she will rush to tweet that.
