Mampara of the week: Tom Curry

For making the dodgy claim that Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi racially abused him, England flanker Tom Curry goes to the mampara sin bin.

Curry whined to the ref that Mbonambi called him a “white c***” during the semifinal last week, in which the Springboks prevailed.

As if South African fans had not suffered enough heart-attack-inducing angst the previous two weekends, we faced the possibility of our only specialist hooker being red-carded for the final.

There was relief all round when World Rugby quickly ruled there was no evidence to support Curry’s complaint.  Perhaps this mampara needs to take Afrikaans lessons before he plays the Boks again.
