If there were any doubts that Anoj Singh was captured by the Guptas, his latest stunt put them to bed. The former Transnet CFO accused of helping the Guptas loot the state entity headed to court to ask for relaxed bail conditions so he can reunite with his capturers. Apparently the Guptas are not finished with their puppet yet, and offered him a job at one of their companies in Dubai.
Anoj wanted the court to believe that unlike the Guptas — who have fought extradition efforts tooth and nail — he would gladly come back to account for his alleged crimes when summoned to do so. But the court saw through this Mampara.
“Even if one was to accept that the UAE does extradite offenders to South Africa, evidence of which has not been provided, it is noteworthy that [Singh] will not be confined within the borders of the UAE. If [Singh] was to land in any of the countries where he cannot be extradited, what then?” said magistrate Emmanuel Magampa, denying this Mampara his right to be recaptured.
