John Steenhuisen’s underemployed chief of staff, retreaded “shock jock” Roman Cabanac, is a man with a mission, but sadly for him it’s looking like mission impossible.
As we report on our pages today, Cabanac is insistent that he has never refused to resign, but he’s waiting for HR to take him through the procedure, presumably with a fat pay cheque at the end.
He dutifully reports for work in Pretoria each day, no doubt earnestly ploughing through the latest crop estimates committee report or some other “secret” document he claims to have been saddled with.
Perhaps this mampara should spare his boss the embarrassment of what surely awaits, namely an inglorious exit from the halls of government. For not being able to read the direction of the cold winds that await him in the future, Cabanac is our mampara of the week.
