ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula is not known for his ability to curb his enthusiasm — or hold his tongue.
This week, he upset senior ANC comrades by jumping the gun when he tweeted about the passing of former deputy president David Mabuza.
Apparently, in his zeal to be first with the news, Mbalula breached party protocol, as such announcements are usually made first by the party president — in this case, Cyril Ramaphosa.
Mbalula may have achieved much in his political career, but it seems he has yet to acquire a sense of occasion.
