When MPs questioned her on this wasteful expenditure this week, Sisisi Tolashe, the idiot serving as social development minister, displayed her allergy to accountability, her lack of shame and her love of gobbledegook — which all amounted to blaming the whistleblowers.
“Unlike the apartheid-era government where the so-called impimpis [informers or sellouts] were not allowed, in this democratic South Africa they are allowed, to an extent. So there’s no way that you can hide anything; you might not see them, but they are there,” she said.
And then on Friday it emerged that she has appointed a 22-year-old with questionable qualifications — a niece of her adviser — to the R1.4m post of chief of staff.
Sisimampara’s flagrant disregard for rules knows no bounds.
