Nandipha Magudumana, who shot to infamy for her alleged role in helping convict Thabo Bester escape from prison, knows a thing or two about publicity. From her prison cell in Kroonstad, Free State, she let it be known this week she has granted exclusive rights to her story to a local black woman-owned production company.
“As women’s month comes to an end”, she now claims she has “suffered physically, emotionally and financially, and from sexual abuse at the hands of powerful men, including some of the most powerful and prominent families in South Africa”.
Combining a plea for pity with drumming up publicity for her tell-all blockbuster, she offered “deeper insight” into the future.
This is eagerly awaited, especially when Mamaparadumana’s standout contribution to women’s causes was helping a convicted rapist escape the jail that so rightly became his home.
