Mega-rich residents of a posh KwaZulu-Natal residential estate will have a sophisticated vault in which to park their Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens that will include a climate-controlled sanctuary, 24-hour armed security and concierge-style services.
IFA, the Kuwait-based developers of Zimbali Lakes, recently launched Avanti Residences and the Tatali Society Club (TSC), a new chapter of the luxury coastal estate offering the first-of-its-kind supercar vault for which residents will pay R7,000 a month.
The developers are expecting to break ground for Avanti and the automotive facilities next year, with completion by the first quarter of 2028. The estate already incorporates Tatali — Arabic for “cascades” — an exclusive development offering a limited number of plots priced from R4.5m to R22m.

As part of its identity as a supercar-focused estate, Zimbali Lakes has partnered Sandton-based RACE!, which works with bespoke supercar storage and customisation facilities internationally. “Supercars are more than vehicles; they are delicate works of art that demand specialist care and asset management,” said Neil Cocker, TSC and Avanti residences operations manager.

“Our research confirmed the demand for this offering, with many collectors running out of space to securely house their investments. The idea to provide all Tatali residents access to a showroom and supercar vault means people buying into Avanti residences will also have access to both the lifestyle and the management framework to protect and elevate these high-value assets.”
Beyond its automotive facilities, Avanti will offer 63 residences — from one-bedroom apartments to expansive penthouses priced between R2.45m and R17.5m.
“Residents will have access to the TSC Skybar & Restaurant. The additional membership to the TSC is set to offer whiskey lockers, cigar lounges, and curated networking events,” said Dave McGregor, sales and marketing manager at Zimbali Lakes.
Cocker told the Sunday Times the vault will be “created, first and foremost, for all our Zimbali Lakes residents, with Avanti buyers enjoying priority access to secure storage and concierge-style services”.
A limited number of spaces may be made available to non-residents.
The vault has been designed with initial space for about 200 vehicles, and as demand grows, it can be expanded to accommodate more.
The vault will occupy 1,000m² — 1,200m², with dedicated storage bays, detailing bays and presentation areas. “Supercar owners require storage that protects their cars from security risks, humidity and wear, while providing a prestigious space for presentation and enjoyment. The vault answers this need by offering a secure, climate-controlled, lifestyle-orientated solution within a luxury-estate environment,” said Cocker.
He said while full security details won't be disclosed, the vault will incorporate 24/7 armed estate security, biometric- and access-controlled entry, discreet arrival and departure protocols, and sophisticated surveillance systems.
He said the vault was designed for cars including classic collectibles “ranging from R2m to R50m, and beyond”.
“South Africa’s coastal climate can accelerate corrosion, paint deterioration and interior wear. A climate-controlled environment eliminates these risks, ensuring cars remain in pristine, investment-grade condition,” said Cocker.
Marco Casciani, owner of RACE!, said collaborating with Zimbali Lakes to create the supercar vault and showroom will allow them to create a sanctuary for supercars in KwaZulu-Natal. “For me, cars have always been more than machines.
